IFSM Young Scientist Assembly
The IFSM Young Scientist Assembly gathers 50 young scientists that are selected based on their accomplishments and IMC20 abstract.

Publish short paper in microscopy journals when the micrograph is selected in the image contest.
The IFSM YSA starts with a dinner on Saturday, September 9th, 2023, followed by a full one-day meeting on Sunday, September 10th, 2023.
This program is open to all Ph.D. students and researchers in their early stage of careers who completed their Ph.D. within five years from the date of the Congress. Applicants select the ‘YSA’ option when they submit an abstract on the website, and they can submit their application on the template. Applicants must have at least one accepted abstract for the IMC20 Congress Program.

How to submit
1.
Create an account and log-in to our submission page on the official website.
2.
Submit an abstract. Applications for IFSM YSA will not be accepted without an abstract submitted.
3.
Complete the application attaching your
1) CV
2) Letter of recommendation of supervisor(s)
3) Abstract submitted, plus
4) An image for the image contest
Please note there is no template for a letter of recommendation.
Benefit for successful applicants
Successful applicants will receive the following benefit for the IFSM Young Scientists Assembly and IMC20 Congress:
1.
Attendance to the IFSM Young Scientists Assembly Dinner being held on Saturday 9th September.
2.
Attendance to the IFSM Young Scientists Assembly Meeting being held on Sunday 10th September.
3.
Free registration - Reimbursement of Early-bird fees.
* Registration fees include commission for payment and reimbursement is the amount excluding commission.
4.
One (1) night’s accommodation (including breakfast and incidentals) on Saturday 9th September 2023.
5.
Bus transfers for the IFSM Young Scientists Assembly Dinner on Saturday.
6.
Attendance to the IMC20 Congress Welcome Reception on Sunday 10.
7.
The images from the 5 winners of the image contest can be published in the Microscopy journals (Microscopy Today / Applied Microscopy).
Image Contest
The applicants of the IFSM YSA must apply for the Image Contest. Submission of the image is mandatory and it has to be submitted when you submit an abstract. IFSM YSA image contest awards a scientifically stunning image with a brief description of the image and its scientific significance. To prepare successful Image Contest, please go through the following instructions carefully:
1.
Entry : Image which is captured in the course of scientific experiment or research. We accept an image only.
* One image for one applicant. Video clips are not allowed.
* An original and unpublished image taken by the authors.
2.
Contents :
- Name and affiliation (indicate the first and the corresponding author)
- Image

Description : research objective, material information, sampling method, imaging techniques, magnification, digital modifications, scientific results, etc. The description of the image should be kept brief, ideally no more than 200 words.
- Size : 45 cm (W) X 60 cm (H) / File format : PDF or PPT
- Please see the example below.
3.
Benefit : Publication in the journal. (Applied Microscopy or Microscopy Today)
* The journal will be assigned by the YSA committee.
4.
Evaluation : Six winners of the Image Contest will be selected by 50 participants of YSA and distinguished guests during YSA meeting on 10(Sun.) Sep.
The images will be displayed on the wall in the hall and the voters select ‘My Favourite Image’ online on-site.
5.
Printing and installation will be done by organizers.
6.
IMC20 has another kind of Image Contest, ‘Art in Science.’ Art in Science is open to the public. The applicants of IFSM YSA can apply ‘Art in Science’ at the same time, but with a different image. For more information about the ‘Art in Science’, please visit here: LINK(will be updated soon)

Group Work for the IFSM Young Scientist Assembly
|
After this special presentation, young scientists will be required to do some work on behalf of IFSM! Each table will be allocated a question of strategic importance to IFSM to discuss and debate. Each group will be required to allocate a scribe, as well as a spokesperson.
